Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis) leafs out after blooming in very early spring, adding great texture to the garden. If grown in the shade of other trees and shrubs and in the absence of severe heat or drought, the leaves will persist throughout our growing season— making it an effective groundcover as well.
