Nurseries & Sources of Native Plants

Here are some of our favorite nurseries. There is no single nursery with a comprehensive supply of native plants of all types and sizes, so expect to use a variety of sources. When searching for specific species, we highly recommend contacting any nursery ahead of time to check their availability.

It helps to do your homework on native species before heading to the nursery. The labeling of natives in the trade is getting better, but is not comprehensive or always accurate. (Sometimes native plant hybrids, bred by crosses with non-natives, are mislabeled as "native.") And in the end, any plant selection process benefits from time taken to research the origin, characteristics and suitability of the species, before jumping in to make the purchase.

We are seeking to expand this page to include other nurseries that offer a very good selection of native plants to the public, and that will help customers procure them. If you represent such a nursery in Massachusetts or the surrounding region, please contact us so that we can learn more about your operations. If you are a customer of the nurseries listed and have feedback, we welcome your comments and and would love to hear about your experience.
